Argentina Now Admits Indian, Chinese and Dominican Tourists With a US Visa or Green Card

Argentina has opened a shortcut for three nationalities that normally need an Argentine visa. Travellers from India, China and the Dominican Republic who hold a valid US visa of a qualifying type, or a US Green Card, can now enter Argentina without a separate Argentine visa.
How the change arrived
In three steps rather than one.
From 22 July 2025, Chinese and Dominican nationals with a valid US visa were admitted.
From 27 August 2025, the same applied to Indian nationals.
From 14 January 2026, Argentina's migration authority began accepting a valid US Green Card as well.
Which US visas count
Not all of them. The qualifying types are the B1/B2, B1 and B2 visitor visas, the J exchange visa, the O and P categories, the E treaty visa and the H-1B. The visa must be valid on arrival.
Holders of other US visa types, including student and most other work categories, still need an Argentine visa.
How long you can stay
It depends on nationality. Chinese travellers can stay up to 30 days for tourism or business. Indian and Dominican travellers can stay up to 90 days, for tourism only.
What it does not change
This is not a general visa exemption. Indian, Chinese and Dominican travellers without a qualifying US document still need an Argentine visa, as before. The border officer still decides on entry, and can ask about the purpose of the trip and onward plans.
What to do
Check the category printed on your US visa against the list, and its expiry date against your travel dates. If you are relying on a Green Card, carry it with your passport. If your US document does not qualify, apply for the Argentine visa before you book.
Verified against the Argentine Consulate General in Atlanta, the Boletín Oficial and the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, checked 1 October 2026.
