Visa Requirements for Dutch Citizens

Dutch citizens can travel internationally in different ways. Depending on the rules, they can apply en línea para eVisas y eTAs en 55 países. They can also get a Visado a la llegada en 10 destinations after landing.

En Netherlands passport is ranked 3rd in the world, and its holders can visit 117 countries without a visa. Before traveling, Dutch citizens should make sure their passport is valid for at least six (6) months from the date they plan to enter another country.

Countries Offering eVisa and ETA to the Dutch

En eVisa is a digital visa that is issued online. You can apply for the visa without visiting the embassy or consulate of the destination country. The approved eVisa will be sent to you directly via correo electrónico. You can either show a digital copy o un copia impresa at the airport.

En eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is also a digital travel permit that lets you enter a country without applying in advance. The approval is also sent to your email, and you can present it upon arrival. 

An eTA is valid for a limited time. You need to enter the destination country within that period. If your eTA expires before your trip, you will need to apply for a new one.

General Visa Requirements for Dutch Citizens

Some general visa requirements are the same in every country. Dutch citizens traveling abroad must fulfill the requirements stated below:

  • Pasaporte válido:  You must have a Netherlands passport that will remain valid for at least six (6) months after your arrival in the destination country.
  • Formulario de solicitud de visado: You need to fill out the form and submit it online or at the embassy. It should include your personal details, travel plans, and why you are visiting.
  • Fotografía: One or more recent passport-sized photos that clearly display your entire face against a white backdrop ( taken within the last three months).
  • Billetes de avión: You may be asked to provide proof of travel in certain countries. This covers your tickets for flights, both incoming and outgoing.
  • Justificante de alojamiento/estancia: You need to mention where you will be staying during your trip, such as a hotel or hostel booking, or the address of friends or family. Your application must include a confirmed booking or a valid address.
