Visa Requirements for Thai Citizens

Thai citizens need to have a passport that is valid for at least six months from the day they arrive in another country. This rule is required by most destinations worldwide.

Thailand has been a member of the Associação das Nações do Sudeste Asiático (ASEAN) since 1967. This allows Thai citizens to enjoy mutual short-term visa-free travel with other ASEAN nations.

Globally, Thai passport holders can travel to thirty-two (32) countries without a visa. For other destinations, entry rules are different. Thai citizens can apply for an eVisa ou um ETA para 83 countries, and both can be completed online. Also, 18 countries allow Thai citizens to get a Visa on Arrival (VOA).

For sticker or stamped visas, Thai travelers must apply at the embassy or consulate, sometimes with an online appointment.

With a global passport ranking of 55, Thai citizens have moderate travel access.

Since visa rules differ between countries, it is always recommended to check the specific requirements of the destination before beginning the application process.

Countries Offering eVisa and ETA to Thailand

Um eVisa is a digital visa that makes your international trips easier. You can complete the application entirely online, so you don’t need to visit an embassy or consulate. Once approved, your eVisa will be sent straight to your email.

You can easily store it on your smartphone or print it out to show at the airport. Immigration officers will accept both.

Um Autorização eletrónica de viagem (ETA) works a little differently. It gives you pre-approval to fly, and once you arrive, immigration officers will issue your visa at the border.

Tal como o eVisa, pode candidatar-se a um ETA online and get the approval by email. To keep it valid, you must enter the country within the specified timeframe. If you don’t, the ETA will expire, and you’ll have to submit a new application before traveling.

Thai passport holders can currently use the eVisa and ETA systems in about 83 countries, with the complete list given below:
