Visa Requirements for Algerian Citizens

When Algerian citizens travel to other countries, the entry rules are not always the same. Some countries offer a variety of options for travelers, including travel visas, eVisas ou Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETAs), as well as Visa à l'arrivée (VOA), or visas that can be issued in person at an embassy or consulate.

Algerian citizens can apply online for an eVisa or ETA to enter 64 countries. Some countries also allow Algerian citizens to enter sans visa.

A Visa on Arrival (VOA)is available in 17 countries. If a country requires a sticker or stamped visa, Algerian citizens must visit its embassy or consulate. Sometimes, you may need to make an appointment online before your visit, depending on the country’s rules.

Algerian nationals must always travel with a passport that is valid for at least six (6) months after the date of entry into the country of destination. The Algerian passport is ranked 79th in the world, and with it Algerian citizens can travel to nineteen (19) countries sans visa.

Visa regulations vary from one country to another. For this reason, you should check the requirements of the nation you intend to visit before beginning the application process.

Countries Offering eVisa and ETA to Algeria

Un eVisa is a visa that you apply for and receive online. There is no necessity to visit the embassy or consulate of the country you plan to travel to. When your eVisa is approved, you can show it at the airport either as a printout or on your phone.

For travelers, an ETA ou Autorisation électronique de voyage is another travel permit. It offers a simple way to enter a country without applying for a visa in advance. Instead, the visa is issued by immigration officers when you arrive at the airport or border.

Similar to the eVisa, you can apply for the ETA online. Once approved, it will be delivered directly to your email. The main difference is that the eVisa allows you to travel at any time during its validity, but the ETA is valid only for a set period. You must enter the country and report to immigration within that time to receive your visa.

Once the timeframe expires, the ETA is no longer valid, and you’ll need to reapply.
