Visa Requirements for Pakistani Citizens
When traveling the world, Pakistani citizens must apply for a visa in person, eVisa, ETA, Visa on Arrival (VOA), or travel free to specific destinations.
Pakistani citizens can apply for an eVisa and ETA for 56 countries. Both the eVisa and ETA can be applied online.
VOA is available for 33 countries. For sticker/stamped visas, Pakistani citizens need to visit the respected countries’ embassy or consulate. There may be appointments available online before arriving at the embassy or consulate, depending on the specific country’s policy.
For Pakistani nationals, the simple entry requirement to travel to a country with or without a visa is to have a valid passport with at least six (6) months of validity from the entry date.
As a member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), specific categories of dignitaries can travel under the Visa Exemption Scheme.
With a passport ranking of 89 globally, Pakistani passport holders can visit nine (9) countries without a visa.
The requirements for a visa vary from country to country. The best course of action is to check out the visa requirements for the specific country before the application procedure.
Countries Offering eVisa and ETA to Pakistanis
The eVisa is a digital visa that is issued online. You can apply for the visa online without visiting the destination country’s embassy or consulate. It can be stored on your smartphone or printed on paper and presented at the airport.
ETA, or Electronic Travel Authorization, is a travel permit that allows you to travel to the destination country without applying for a visa prior to your visit. Upon arrival to the country, you can get your visa directly from the immigration authorities.
ETA can also be applied online, just like an eVisa. It will also be delivered to your email. While you can travel with your eVisa anytime you want, an ETA has a specific timeframe. You must approach the destination country’s immigration within that time to secure your visa.
If the timeframe is exceeded, your ETA won’t be valid anymore, and you will have to apply for a new one.
