Visa Requirements for Switzerland Citizens

One of the world’s strongest passports gets a Switzerland traveller into nearly every country on arrival. For the short list that still wants an online eVisa or eTA, we handle the paperwork and email back the approval.

About Switzerland Passport

The Swiss passport ranks joint 3rd on the Henley Passport Index, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to roughly 186 destinations. Although Switzerland is not in the EU, it is part of the Schengen Area, so Swiss citizens move freely across Europe on a passport or national identity card.

Only a focused group of countries still asks Swiss travellers for an online eVisa or eTA - and those are exactly the ones we handle for you. Wherever you travel, keep your passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date.

Regional travel for Switzerland

Read the travel policy details for Switzerland

Switzerland is not a member of the European Union, but it belongs to the Schengen Area and the European single market through its bilateral agreements. Swiss citizens can live, work and travel across the EU and Schengen countries on a passport or national identity card, with no border checks between most member states.

Because Switzerland sits inside Schengen, Swiss travellers never need ETIAS for Europe. Further afield, Switzerland is in the US Visa Waiver Program, so an ESTA covers the United States, and Britain now requires the UK ETA before you fly.
