Visa Requirements for Iraqi Citizens

Iraqi travelers face different visa rules depending on where they want to go. First of all, Iraqi citizens must have a passport valid for at least six (6) months from the date they enter a foreign country.

With Iraq’s passport ranked 91st globally, travelers can visit six (6) countries without needing a visa.

Iraqis can also apply for an eVisa or ETA to 60 countries online from anywhere. There are also 12 countries that offer a Visa on Arrival, where the visa is issued after landing at the airport or border.

Some countries still require a sticker or stamped visa. In these cases, applicants must visit the embassy or consulate in person, and depending on the country’s policy, they may need to book an online appointment beforehand.

Every country has different visa rules, so checking the updated requirements before starting your application is always the safest option.

Countries Offering eVisa and ETA to Iraqi Citizens

An eVisa is a digital visa that you receive after applying online. You don’t need to visit an embassy or consulate. Once approved, you can print the eVisa or save it on your phone and present it at the airport.

An ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) also starts with an online application, and the document is sent to your email. However, an ETA works differently from an eVisa. With an ETA, you can travel to the country first, and immigration officers will give you the actual visa when you arrive.

One important thing to note is that an ETA is only valid for a limited timeframe. You must enter the country within that period.

If you miss the deadline, the ETA becomes invalid, and you will need to apply for a new one.
