Visa Requirements for Sudanese Citizens
Most Sudanese people need a visa to travel to other countries, but the process depends on the destination. Some visas are requested at an embassy, some can be applied for online, some are given when you arrive, and a few countries do not require a visa.
Sudanese passport holders can apply for an eVisa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for 58 countries. Both options are online-based and usually do not require visiting an embassy.
Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available in 17 countries. For destinations that require a sticker or stamped visa, Sudanese citizens must visit the relevant embassy or consulate. Some embassies allow online appointment booking, depending on the country’s policy.
Sudan is a member of the Arab League, African Union (AU), and COMESA. Because of this, certain Sudanese nationals, such as diplomats or travelers under special agreements, may qualify for visa-free entry or a visa on arrival in some countries. These privileges may change based on bilateral agreements and timing.
For every international trip, Sudanese travelers must carry a passport valid for at least six (6) months from the date of entry, whether a visa is required or not.
Countries Offering eVisa and ETA to Sudanese
An eVisa is a digital visa that you can apply for online without visiting an embassy or consulate. Once approved, it can be saved on your phone or printed and shown at the airport or border.
An ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a travel permit that allows you to visit a country without applying for a visa in advance. After you arrive, the immigration authorities issue the visa directly.
Like an eVisa, you can also apply for an ETA online, and it is usually sent to your email. There is an important difference between eVisa and ETA. An eVisa is valid for travel anytime within its validity period, while an ETA has a fixed timeframe. You must enter the country and report to immigration within that time.
If you miss the allowed timeframe, the ETA becomes invalid, and you will need to apply again.
