But before the adventure begins, there’s one thing to check off your list: the Taiwan eVisa. This fully online visa system is Taiwan’s love letter to travelers, those who want to explore without the hassle of embassy queues or paperwork marathons. 

Who is Eligible for the Taiwan eVisa

Since January 2016, Taiwan has offered an electronic visa (eVisa), initially to a select group of countries, and later expanded in October 2016. If you’re from one of the countries eligible for visa‑free access under this program, you can apply directly without needing an invitation or E‑code.

Eligible countries (visa‑waiver via eVisa):

If you’re from a country that qualifies for this visa-free program, you can apply for the eVisa online. The countries include Australia, Brunei, Canada, European Union nations, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and others. 

This list has grown over time. Since October 2016, more countries have been added, often based on reciprocal agreements or sustained tourism data.

Countries eligible via E‑code (host invitation):

Processing usually takes around 3 to 7 working days. There are two eVisa processing options: standard processing, which typically takes about 6 to 7 working days, and a premium option that speeds things up to 3 to 5 working days for an extra fee.

Arrival & Entry Requirements

Try the Baiyang Trail for something truly unforgettable. As you walk, you’ll hear the wind whispering through the trees and feel the cool mountain air.

Sun Moon Lake

You’ll see calm blue water with forest-covered hills all around, and it’s really peaceful. Take a boat ride, then bike along the quiet paths by the lake. At sunset, the mountains turn into soft shapes against a pink sky. You will find peace in a place that helps you relax and enjoy the moment.

Kaohsiung

Along Taiwan’s southern harbor, Pier‑2 Art District pulses with creative energy like street art, floating installations, and cafés.
