Visa Requirements for Belarusian Citizens

The Belarusian passport is ranked 52nd in the world. It allows travelers to visit nine (9) countries without a visa. For other places, Belarusians must get permission to enter before traveling.

Depending on the country, they may need an eVisa, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), a Visa on Arrival (VOA), or a regular visa from the embassy.

Belarusian citizens can apply online for an eVisa and eTA to 59 countries. Another 16 countries offer a Visa on Arrival, which means you can get your visa after landing. If a sticker or stamped visa is needed, you must visit the embassy or consulate of that country. Some embassies allow you to book your appointment online before your visit.

Every Belarusian traveler must have a passport valid for at least six (6) months from the date they plan to enter another country.

As a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Belarus allows certain officials and dignitaries to travel under a Visa Exemption Scheme.

Since every country has different entry rules, it’s best to check the visa requirements before planning your trip.

Countries Offering eVisa and ETA to Belarusians

An eVisa is a type of visa that you can get completely online. You don’t need to visit an embassy or consulate to apply. Once approved, your eVisa will be sent to your email, and you can either print it out or keep a digital copy on your phone to show at the airport.

An ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is slightly different. It is a pre-approval to travel that allows you to enter a country without applying for a visa beforehand. After you arrive, the immigration officers issue your visa at the airport.

You can also apply for an ETA online, and it will be sent to your email just like an eVisa. However, an ETA is valid only for a certain period of time. You must travel to your destination within that validity period.

If you miss that timeframe, your eTA will no longer be valid. And you’ll need to apply for a new ETA before traveling again.
